クロマツ（黒松、学名：Pinus thunbergii）

日本と韓国の海岸に自生するマツ属の1種です。

別名はオマツ（雄松）。

What is [Kuromatsu]?

Japanese black pine (Kuromatsu, scientific name: Pinus thunbergii)

It is a species of Pinus that grows naturally on the coasts of Japan and Korea.

Another name is Omatsu (Yumatsu).【特徴】

樹高は、40 mに達することもあるが、自然の状態ではそこまで成長することはまれです。

記録的な高さのクロマツとしては、「春日神社の松」（島根県隠岐郡布施村（現・隠岐の島町））の66 m、「緩木神社の松」（大分県竹田市。もと国の天然記念物）の60 m、「大日松」（茨城県大宮村（現・龍ケ崎市））の55 mなどがあったが、いずれも現存しません。

【Characteristic】

樹皮は灰黒色で厚く、亀甲状に割れ目が入りはがれます。

The bark is grayish black and thick, with cracks in the shape of a turtle shell.アカマツと比較して黒っぽい樹皮をしており、名前はここから呼ばれています。

針葉もアカマツより硬く、枝振りも太いことから、別名「雄松（オマツ）」とも呼ばれます。

一方、アカマツは「雌松（メマツ）」と呼ばれます。

クロマツとアカマツの交じっている林では稀に雑種（アイグロマツ）が生じます。

品種として、タギョウクロマツ P. thunbergii f. multicaulis があります。

The needles are harder than the red pine and the branches are thicker, so it is also called "Omatsu".

On the other hand, red pine is called "Pine tree".

In the forest where black pine and red pine are mixed, rare hybrids (eye pine) occur.

日本では本州、四国、九州に分布し、国外では朝鮮南部の島嶼から知られます。

北海道の海岸沿いや道路沿いにも植林されており、道南では北海道駒ヶ岳などで自生化が見られます。

海岸の岩の上から砂浜海岸に広く見られ、特に砂浜のクロマツ林は白砂青松と呼ばれて景観として重視されています。

ただし、遷移の上では、砂地のクロマツ林は次第にタブ林などに置き換わるものと考えられています。

クロマツ林は人為的管理によって維持されてきた面があります。

クロマツの大木は往々にして岩礁海岸の岩頭にあります。

日本では海岸線への植樹が古くから行われ、本来の植生や分布はよくわからなくなっています。

[Distribution and growth environment]

Forests have also been planted along the coast and roads of Hokkaido, and in southern Hokkaido, it can be seen growing naturally on Mt. Komagatake, Hokkaido.

It is widely seen from the top of the rocks on the coast to the sandy shore, and the black pine forest on the sandy beach is called white sand blue pine and is considered important as a landscape.

However, it is considered that the black pine forests in the sandy soil will gradually be replaced by tub forests etc. on the transition.

The black pine forest has the aspect that it has been maintained by artificial management.

Large trees of Japanese black pine are often found at the head of rocky coasts.

In Japan, tree planting on the coastline has been done for a long time, and the original vegetation and distribution are not well understood.【利用】

汚染と塩害に強いために、街路樹や防潮林に使われます。

いわゆる浜にある松原はクロマツで構成されます。

また、一般的な園芸用樹種であり、古来から盆栽用の樹種としても使われています。

このマツノザイセンチュウは偶発的に日本へも侵入し、クロマツ林に打撃を与えています。
